Kate is a member of the Zambia National Advisory Board for Impact Investing’s Policy Working Group responsible for driving policy and scoping regulatory initiatives, to shape the impact investing business environment in Zambia and serves as Product Policy Manager at a global tech platform business. Together with experience in previous roles as senior legal and regulatory advisor in the mergers and acquisitions and tax practices of leading commercial law firms, in financial services sector through an industry secondment at ABSA Bank and with MultiChoice Africa, Kate has well-rounded experience working with and managing risk for businesses at different phases of the investment spectrum and on both investor and investee mandates.
She has significant experience and exposure advising local and international private investment funds and development finance institutions deploying capital to invest in SMEs, Start Ups and mature businesses on sector agnostic investment mandates as well as exiting investee companies. Kate has also worked with SMEs and Startups to formalise and restructure governance and operational structures and investment instruments, raise capital and scale businesses into new markets.
Kate is passionate about impact linked and sustainable investments and leveraging technology as a tool for business in delivering products and services and to solve social challenges. She has in the recent past served as advisory board member for Good Nature Agro, a for profit social enterprise that leverages digital innovations in its business model to deliver farmer-centric impact.
Kate holds a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Zambia and a Master of Laws in International Investment and Trade Law from the University of Pretoria and University of Amsterdam.
