Sewu-Steve Tawia is a Ghanaian-French investment and development finance professional with over 20 years of experience in development finance, strategy consulting, angel investing and venture capital funds and fund of funds in Europe and Africa. He is currently General Partner at Jaza Rift Ventures, a $5m seed fund backing East to West Africa focused healthtech, medtech and biotech startups, developed in partnership with Villgro Africa.
Through Asime Ventures, he’s also a prolific angel investor with a track record across the continent in fintech, healthtech, ecommerce, insuretech, retailtech, renewable energy and edtech. A VC, PE and Impact Investing expert, he is also a strong advocate of gender equality and women economic empowerment. He further supports the development of the investment ecosystem in Africa through engagements as an ANDE Investment Management Trainer, Coach/Mentor with the African Angel Academy, Royal Academy of Enginering’s Africa Prize and a co-Founder of Accra Angels Network.
Sewu-Steve is an alumnus of London Business School (UK), Audencia Business School (France), and has an executive leadership certificate in social entrepreneurship (EPSE) from Stanford GSB (USA). He holds a number of professional charters: CDFP (Digital Finance), CAIA (alternative investments), CIFE (Islamic Finance), Prince 2 (project management) and Toastmaster (public speaking) while being an tech innovation thought leader, JKA Karate Shotokan (3rd Dan) and Kizomba instructor.
