Matthew Davis, CFA is the co-founder, co-CEO and chief investment officer of Renew Capital, a pan-African early-stage investment firm that has been investing in Africa for over a decade and operates across 13 African countries. Renew Capital’s investment model backs tech and tech-enabled startups and accelerates their growth with strategic management support—helping them capture market share, modernize industries, create jobs and generate strong returns.

Before co-founding Renew Capital, Mr. Davis was a principal consultant at Touchstone Consulting Group, a strategy and management consulting firm in Washington, D.C. There, he advised private and public sector leaders, leading projects in environmental sustainability, international development, information technology and finance.

An active angel investor, Mr. Davis has invested in more than 40 African startups. He is also a guest lecturer and public speaker on international finance and impact investing.

Mr. Davis holds a Bachelor’s degree in Physics and a Master of Science in Physics and Business from the University of Utah. He is also a CFA® charterholder. He has lived in Africa for over 12 years and divides his time between Ethiopia and Rwanda.
