Alwaleed Alatabani is Practice Manager for the Finance, Competitiveness and Innovation Practice Group for East Africa at the World Bank. Prior to this role, Alwaleed served as Senior Advisor to the Minister of Finance in the transitional government of Sudan (2020–2022), and spent nine years in the East Asia Pacific region of the World Bank as Lead Financial Sector Specialist in Indonesia and Vietnam. He has undertaken assignments in more than 30 countries, advising governments on a broad array of economic and financial sector development issues. Alwaleed joined the World Bank in 2002 and holds two master’s degrees from the University of London and the London School of Economics.
