Senior Advisor on Agriculture,
Mr. Prosper Komla Bissi is an Agricultural Economist with over eighteen years of experience in international economic development. He specializes in planning and designing investment programmes, implementing policies for regional integration, promoting trade, and developing inclusive value chains to boost export trade and economic growth in the continent. He has provided strategic guidance and advice to both the public and private sectors in formulating and implementing numerous trade-related interventions and strategic food security investment projects at national and regional levels. Additionally, he has leveraged strategic partnerships for international cooperation, private sector engagement, resource mobilization, and strategic value chain development. His efforts aim to achieve continental food security, export market development, and enhanced trade for improved income and overall economic growth while collaborating with public and private sectors.
Mr. Bissi has applied these attributes at senior managerial and advisory levels in various continental positions with the African Union Commission (AUC) and other AU institutions. He is currently serving as the Senior Adviser to the Secretary General at the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) Secretariat leading and guiding the secretariat’s efforts on developing strategies, partnerships, and programs for enhancing agricultural trade and value chains perspectives of the AfCFTA implementation. He was the Coordinator/Head of the Comprehensive Africa Agriculture Development Programme (CAADP) with the African Union Commission.
Mr. Bissi also worked as Senior Trade and Market Access Adviser for the South African-based African Union Development Agency (AUDA-NEPAD) in support of advancing the implementation of agricultural trade perspectives of CAADP, under FAO support to the AUDA.
