Chris Maranga leads Acumen’s work in Africa, driving the Africa investing strategy, the leadership development work through Acumen Academy, and partnership development. Before Acumen, Chris worked at the Impact Fund Denmark (former IFU), where he led the Sustainable Food Systems team in Africa and supported the Green Infrastructure Team in East Africa. His career began in audit and corporate finance with PricewaterhouseCoopers and Deloitte, before moving to investment banking at First Africa, a Standard Chartered subsidiary, and later Standard and Mutual, an advisor on the Nairobi Stock Exchange. Chris also worked as an Investment Principal at Phatisa, the fund manager of the $300M Africa Agriculture Fund. He is a Chartered Accountant and holds an MBA in Finance from the University of Nairobi, where he lectures part-time at the School of Business.
